While working in retail store, you will have to face with a lot of difficult customer situation. When a customer files a complaint, you must find out the source of problem and make him calm down as soon as possible.

It is important to greet the customers when they come into the store. In this way, they will feel being acknowledged in the store. If you are engaging in a conversation with a customer, you can politely tell the customer to wait and that you will attend to his need shortly. If you ignore the customer, he will be impatient and leave the store. If there is an unsatisfied customer, you must find out the faults of the product and try to offer compensation.

While at the retail store, you must carry a smile in your face. You must smile naturally. If the customer sense that you are pretending, they will know you are insincere. If you have a serious countenance, potential customers may be afraid to approach you. Instead, you must be friendly and outgoing. If he is searching for an item, you must find it for him. If you find it hard to smile, you can practice smiling on the mirror. If you are having a personal problem, you must never discuss it with the customer. You should keep the problemto youself.

You must have a gentle and persuasive voice. Retail sales person must be courteous and never use bad words in their speeches. When you speak to customer with a persuasive voice, they are more likely to purchase the product. Your persuasive voice will help the customer to change his mind and decide to buy from you.

When a customer seems to be finding a product, you can walk over and ask if you can do him any favor. Most of the time, the customer will immediately address to the retail store staff about their need. You should bring the customer to the particular area instead of just saying “It’s over there.” The customer may not know where you are pointing at. After you finished helping the customer, be sure to smile and say “Thank you”.  By guiding the customer, he will feel your sincerity. He will be impressed with the customer service. When the customer returns, he may refer your retail store to other people. In this way, you will help your company to get referral business.
