Retail Merchandising Jobs
Retail merchandising involves conducting all kinds of tasks to attract the customers. The merchandiser would distribute samples to encourage customer to buy a product. Some of the promotional items that are often used in merchandising include brochures, coupons and etc.  The purpose of distributing brochure is to educate people about the benefits of the products. When customer is aware of the benefits, they are more likely to buy the product.

Merchandiser can also create a signage to entice the customer into shopping at the store. The window dressers only work when the shop is just open or about to close. It will take many weeks to come up with the appropriate design for the window display. Visual merchandisers will cooperate with other staffs to create an attractive storyboard. The storyboard must be able to motivate the customer to enter into the store.  The visual merchandiser often travels to other stores to set up the window displays.

The merchandiser often visits the store as a goodwill ambassador for the company which he represents. By doing so, he is creating a good relationship with the store which can help the company to secure more orders.

The work of the merchandiser involves visiting large retail chain such as Target, Walmart and etc. You can either work as full time or part time merchandiser. Full time merchandiser can be hired by one company or get assignments from multiple companies. If you are hired by one company, you will work in a promotion team. Promotion team often hand out samples to customers at a popular public location. For example, they can go to the beach to distribute free ice creams during the summer. Merchandising job is a great way to supplement the income at home.

There are two payment methods which are commonly used to pay retail merchandiser. You can be paid by hourly wage. For example, the company will pay $10 for per hour. They can also pay you at a flat rate for per job. For example, you get paid $20 for each shopping visit.

The advantage of a retail merchandiser is that you work in a flexible time. There is no fixed time like office work. You never have to rush to work in the traffic jam. If your job performance is good, it can become a fairly regular work. Most companies will want you to continuously provide merchandising services for them.
